Yorkshire Marathon 2015 · 11 October 2015 ·
As a runner my legs mean everything to me and I hate being injured and unable to run. I couldn’t imagine a life without running or even just walking. Unfortunately this is the reality for many Africans whom amputation has left totally immobile due to the lack of prosthetics.
Legs4Africa aims to change this by recycling prosthetic legs from UK patients and giving them to African amputees. This is a truly life-saving opportunity for many people, giving them freedom to work and socialize again without the stigma a loss of limb often symbolizes. It’s also a great way of dealing with "waste" prosthetics as under EU law, limbs must be disposed of if they have been used in any way - even if they have only been "tried on".
It only costs around £8 to fit a prostetic but there are thousands of people waiting for this life-changing gift so please give generously for this amazing cause. A full marathon will definitely take the life out of my legs for a while but hopefully with your support it will provide legs for many African amputees.
