Ian and I have long wanted to do something for the Alder Hey Childrens Charity as our nephew Daniel, who suffered from Cystic Fibrosis, spent a lot of time when he was younger under their care. Alder Hey provides shared care together with a network of local hospitals around the North West.  The CF shared-care clinical network established from Alder Hey is described as one of the best model of CF care in the UK .

Another of our nephews Zack had life saving heart surgery at Alder Hey as well. So when we decided to trek the Great Wall of China for charity we did not need to spend a lot of time deciding which charity we wanted to support.
