Story
Hello and thanks for taking the time to visit my Just Giving Page. I'm very proud (& a little bit nervous) to be running the Derby Ramathon in aid of Safe and Sound UK.
As the father of 3 young children, Safe and Sound is a charity very close to my heart. This Derby based charity works tirelessly to help children and young people affected by sexual exploitation and violence.
It's specialist support helps move these youngsters to a place of safety and delivers training and resources to enable others to identify & support those affected by this and other forms of exploitation and abuse.
No children should have to grow up with the threat of sexual exploitation and charities like Safe & Sound tackle this sensitive issue by providing care and resources, although they really do need our help to support more youngsters.
Here is how
the money you raise can help:
£20 could pay for a
new resource that will help raise awareness of sexual exploitation with a
number of young people to help prevent those at risk from becoming victims
£50 could pay for an
initial session of creative arts therapy for one young victim of abuse, which
may help them on their road to recovery
£100 could provide a
vulnerable young person with a series of one-to-one support sessions with a
dedicated support worker to help reduce their risk
£500 could pay for an
education session in a school to educate children and their parents about
sexual exploitation and staying safe
£1000 could pay for a
series of alternative therapeutic support sessions to one young person to help
them to deal with the effects of exploitation and abuse
£2000 could provide one
young person with specialist one-to-one support for up to a year
As a relatively new runner, this is a huge challenge for me. I only started running last year with the Eden Tyres & Servicing Derby 10K team and since training for that, I've literally never looked back!
Please donate whatever you can, any amount will be appreciated more than you know. Let's do something that will make a real difference to the lives of these young children. Whether you can afford £1 or £100, it'll help towards giving these exploited, abused children renewed hope and the support they'll need for a much better future.
Thanks so much
Jim
