Story

The JiwanKilimanjaro2018 team consists of two individuals, Jiwan Gahunia, 66 years old, who will climb the mountain, and Peter Sturgess, 67 years old, who will organise getting Jiwan there! The two men bonded on a squash court nearly ten years ago and have remained firm friends ever since.

JIWAN GAHUNIA

Born in India, Jiwan came to the UK when he was 16, and has never looked back. Married with two children, he runs his own business in South Wales, and keeps fit by not only playing squash, but by doing circuit training and climbing mountains in Wales. He quite often does circuits, plays squash, and finally goes walking, all on the same day!

PETER STURGESS

Born in the Midlands in 1950, Peter has been a sportsman all his life, and would join Jiwan in this adventure to the top of Kilimanjaro if Jiwan thought that Peter could get there in one piece! Unfortunately, both Peter and Jiwan agree that, as when playing squash, Peter struggles to keep up, so his contribution is to ensure that the expedition remains on track for this November!
