Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am aiming to undertake two swimming challenges in 2022. First, the Jedi Polar Bear Challenge. This is a cold water winter challenge that runs until 31st March. I have to swim over 3,000m each month and complete 10 different swims of varying lengths under 9.0 degrees. I have already completed a few but as the weather gets colder again, the distances will be harder to achieve. Second, I have signed up to swim the length of Ullswater on 16th July. It is 7.5 miles (12K) and I reckon it will take me between 4.5 and 5 hours. It will be a swimming marathon! I have an awful lot of training to do over the next 6 months and I will be completing both these without a wetsuit.
In September 2021, I lost my lovely mother-in-law, Jill, from advanced lung cancer. The Arthur Rank Hospice from Home team looked after her with great kindness and dignity during the last days of her illness. They also provided much needed support and comfort to the family. Not only did we lose Jill but my very good friends, John and Helen Juckes, lost their 19 year old son to peripheral T-cell lymphoma (PTCL- NOS). David spent his final days in the Arthur Rank hospice when his condition became too complex to manage at home and he was able to be with his friends and siblings for the first time (due to Covid), whilst receiving the very best care.
Arthur Rank is a very special place ❤️ and it would be fantastic if you could help me support them by donating anything you can, no matter how small, so that they can continue to provide excellent care, support and comfort to those who need it.
I will keep this page updated with my progress over the winter and with my training for Ullswater.
Thank you very much.
Jo
