Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am walking 13.1 miles in and around Newbury on the 25th September 2014 on a day of events for Vodafone staff to complete an epic company total of 20,000 miles of running/cycling/walking.
Epilepsy is a common condition that
affects approximately one in 103 people. It is usually diagnosed in
childhood and in people over the age of 65, but it can affect any one.
I was diagnosed with Epilepsy at the age of 21 after two Tonic Clonic Seizures within just a few months of each other.
I had not had any further seizures and been free from medication for 10
years prior to an isolated seizure in March 2013. The decision to return
to medication for the rest of my life as the safest option was easy to make but
difficult to accept.
Epilepsy carries a certain stigma with it as it is a condition that sufferers rarely share with others for fear of judgement or misunderstanding.
However, the time has finally come to say enough is enough and to stop hiding my Epilepsy from the world, I'm still me after all!! I've decided to step up to the mark to help raise awareness and funding for this marvellous charity in the hope we can not only improve the lives of people with Epilepsy but also to eventually come up with a cure.
