Story
For the week of the 5th November 2016, I am going to Africa to build a school in a township. I won't be building it alone; I will be part of Mellon Educates amazing "Building Blitz"
A Building Blitz is exactly what it sounds like - a group of volunteers (many skilled and others - like me - unskilled) working to rebuild / build a primary school. Why? Because I strongly believe that education is key to a person achieving their true potential - and that starts at the earliest age. There are children living in townships with so much potential, but the infrastructure and support simply isn't there. So when the opportunity came up at work to be part of a team that can change all that, I leapt at the chance. Mellon Educate don't just put the infrastructure in place, but they follow up with practical support and advice to make sure the changes are lasting.
And this is where you come in - in order to go and change these children's lives, I need to reach my fundraising target by the end of August. I will hopefully be doing a few fundraising events along the way and will update you on them here, but if you feel inspired or just want to donate I would be so grateful for all your support.
