A very good friend of mine was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma when she was just 8 years old. She spent a long time in and out of Leeds General Infirmary and during that really difficult time Candlelighters were amazing...
On the Wards... They fund essential additional services from funding posts, to purchasing IT equipment, to building a state of the art Pavilion for families to take a break from the sounds and smells of the hospital
Family Support... whether they are supporting families financially, sending them on a much needed break or welcoming them to their family support centre, The Square, they are there for families both practically and emotionally.
Through Research... each year they plough hundreds of thousands of pounds into the research and study of children's cancer. This is funded by the people of Yorkshire with the potential for international impact.
I wanted to top up their funds a bit so (stupidly) decided to cycle across Vietnam and Cambodia!! This is a huge challenge both physically and emotionally for me and so I hope that I can raise a decent amount of money to make the stress and exhaustion worthwhile!
Although once I'm over there I will be part of a group, I am going on my own, which is quite scary when you're a (nearly) 40 year old who has done nothing but be a mum for the last 8 years! I have been training since Easter to make sure that I can complete the challenge. With your support I reckon I can do it!
