Story
Firstly, DRWF funds vital diabetes research to establish the causes to develop improved management and treatment options, and ultimately find a cure, we aim to ensure that people have access to the right information and support to develop a proactive self-care approach to successful self-management, to ensure that they are ’staying well until a cure is found....’
My partner of 27 years lives with this disease day in day out, and so do I in some respect, along side him.
When we first got together at 22 I remember attending one his appointments, there I was honest and told the doctor he hadn’t been doing the best with his insulin, I remember to this day the words that came out of his mouth are “sir, unless you take control now. You will be dead by the time your 30”
I have found it so hard to live with knowing/hearing this, myself and Nathan has had many arguments via diabetes and life surely hasn’t been the same since hearing what I have. Nathan has days like everyone else, works hard, forgets to do something, then he’s in trouble which ever way that might be.
He’s now 28 and in the back of my mind there’s a lot of questions. I have just discovered a machine nathan was selected to trial a few months ago which he was coping with very well has just become available for T1’s on the NHS.
The only way this can be possible is people like you donating £1 or more. I’ve never been one for donating online but recently it’s opened my eyes. I am trying to reach a target of £300 to donate to the diabetes research of wellness
Without this treatment he currently receives he wouldn’t still be here to this day.
I’d like to thank everyone involved.
