Following on from last year's Inca Trail, I wanted to set myself another challenge (I know I must be mad!)

So, when work approached me to (get on my bike) and cycle from London to Paris for a charity that is close to our hearts, I jumped at the chance (on my bike that is!) 

It is a fantastic opportunity to make one simple change to my life but a huge difference to the lives of patients living with myeloma.  I say simple, but it is actually no mean feat (as I am starting to realise).  It will involve four days in the saddle (ouch!) and an epic journey of 500km starting out in the busy London streets and on through the rolling hills of France to finish along the cobbles of the Arc de Triomphe.

I have always enjoyed cycling but I have never owned a road bike and I have never done ANYTHING like this before so the training is proving to be tough and the learning curve as steep as the French hills will no doubt be!  However, I am determined to do this along with my colleagues and myeloma patients to raise as much money as possible for this great charity.

Myeloma is a cancer of the blood and in most cases is incurable.  Myeloma UK is the only organisation in the UK dealing exclusively with myeloma. They provide information and support to patients and their families and help myeloma patients live longer, with a better quality of life by accelerating the discovery, development of and access to new treatments.  With the support of Myeloma UK, great strides have been made in the last decade towards achieving a potential cure for this complex cancer.

So in what is set to be one of the most exciting year's of my own life which will see me getting married, I want to take on this challenge to bring hope and make a difference to the lives of patients and families affected by myeloma.

The fundraising goal is ambitious, so please dig deep and make all the early morning starts in the freezing cold and the saddle sores worth it and help me reach and even surpass this target!
