In June, I’m going to run the Great Midlands Fun Run for the mental health charity Mind. I decided to do it for mental health because it affects so many people’s lives on a daily basis, either directly or by affecting family and friends. It’s impacted on my life as I’ve experienced people (who are close to me) struggle with their mental health and the damage it’s caused them, not just mentally but physically, through self harm and attempted suicide. Unfortunately it’s more common than people might think and definitely isn’t something to be ashamed of. 1 in 4 people worldwide will experience a mental health issue at some point in their lives. This is something that should be talked about and not neglected, just talking about it and opening up can save lives...

What does Mind do? Mind raises awareness for mental health and offers support and advice for people dealing with it, as well as giving people the knowledge needed to help others struggling.
