On 8th October, we have been challenged to STAY:UP and go without any sleep for one night to help end homelessness.
The annual 'Sleep Out' event can't be held this year, due to COVID-19 and the current guidelines. Sadly, those sleeping on the streets have few other options and the number of people in vulnerable circumstances has significantly increased over this period.
A number of us will be staying up from 8pm to 8am and completing a variety of activities and challenges. I will be aiming to run through the night and would appreciate your support for this fantastic cause.
Over 300,000 people are estimated to be homeless in the UK, equating to one in every 200 people, and this issue continues to grow. The average life expectancy of homeless people is just 47 years old and their quality of life is unimaginable. People sleeping on the streets are 17 times more likely to have been the victims of violence and are over nine times more likely to take their own life. Many are facing serious danger on the streets and are too scared to sleep.
We have to change this and end homelessness.
