Story
This year has been the worst and hardest year of our lives. My amazing dad was diagnosed with lung cancer and shortly after this, he lost his brave battle.
My dad was so full of life and a big character. He touched the lives of so many, and I am proud to have had him as my dad, best friend and role model for 35 years. Now it is time for me to make him proud..
Dad was always a huge fan of running but arthritis stopped him - so I have decided to run the Brighton Marathon in his memory and hope to raise some money for the Roy Castle Lung Foundation along the way.
Cancer is the leading cause of death for both men and women - lung cancer being the biggest killer. Dad was fit, healthy and a non smoker - he was just 'unlucky'. Lung Cancer is often caught too late. It is a horrendous disease that comes with crippling symptoms. The Roy Castle Lung Foundation is dedicated to provide information and support to lung cancer patients and their researchers are working to beat this terrible disease. If I can raise enough to help another family get the support they need or help with the research I will be happy, and the hard work would have been worth it.
After having baby Lottie 4 months ago I will have to work extra hard but with my bestie Helen by my side I know I can do it!
Thank you
