Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
If I remember correctly, the last time I did anything for charity I guess I was 16 and became involved in a very dubious sponsored disco, promising the dubious pleasure of 24 hours of Saturday Night Fever, dancing with Julie Elders and all the other foxy sixth babes of Sir William Turner's sixth form college ... Since then, many of my friends have put me to shame - Spencer M. spending a night on the street of London, naked in the rain; Carol G. running up Everest, blindfold, but in my opinion neither of those challenges stands comparison with the mission on which I am about to embark ...
It took a lot of persuasion from Kat, Kyriaki and friends but, always having my finger locked to the groove of the Shoreditch pulse, I have decided to join the MOVEMBER movement and grow a moustache over November.. Imagine!!!
Anyone who knows me well will know how much I loath facial hair [and just in case any of my rather fine-looking hirsute friends think I am judging them a tad harshly, I emphasize that I mean I have always loathed facial hair ON ME] so this is particularly tricky assignment; but hey, I've realised that its finally time to man-up and leave the razor in the cupboard for a few weeks.. If you are tempted to sponsor me, I should say that my first goal is to last over the weekend (i.e. until Nov. 5th); if, by a miracle I manage that there is a small chance I might make it until next Friday (9th November), albeit given how irritating I am finding the damn thing already, I think that most unlikely; to be honest I would say the chance of me making over the whole month - no matter how much Kat tries to persuade me - is virtually nil; that said, I can be a bloody minded so-an-so on occasion, so it is not totally impossible I guess..
If I remember [and can be bothered] I will post update photos every few days or so on Facebook [or possibly here if I can work out how]. So I hope you will take the opportunity to give generously - I am sure the future comedic value of this noble undertaking will be huge..
In line wit the goals of the world-wide MOVEMBER movement, the men’s charity I have chosen to support is Prostate Cancer UK - this is because this disease is a serious issue for guys and one a close member of my family suffers from; in no small part this is to support him I guess..
