Caudwell Children

Caudwell Children transforms the lives of disabled children across the UK. We act as a safety net for families who are unable to gain the help they need. We provide family support services, equipment, treatment and therapies for disabled children and their families across the UK.

Story

On the 1 July I undertake one of the toughest challenges ever – Lands End to John O’Groats, cycling 140 miles per day for 7 days, a total distance approaching 1000 miles!

I am raising money for Caudwell Children, a national charity that helps thousands of families each year who face a constant battle to provide their children with the equipment, treatment and therapy they desperately need.

It is for these children that I ask for your support in raising as much as we possibly can – just think of the difference you donation will make to children’s lives.

The Ride

The challenge is to cycle the furthest possible distance in the British Isles, from Lands End to John O’Groats and completing this iconic route in just 7 days, which means cycling up to 140 miles per day, a total distance approaching 1000 miles.

The team of intrepid riders will start at Land’s End on the southwesterley tip of England, pedal through Cornwall, over Dartmoor and north along the Welsh border, skirting the Lake District into Scotland, via lochs and mountains to the North Coast and John O’Groats.

So why on earth am I doing it?

Well, I would like to raise as much as possible for the children the charity helps;

£60,000 – can provide a life-changing operation to help a disabled child walk independently for the first time.

£20,000 – can provide a multi-purpose powered wheelchair, transforming a child’s life by enabling them to experience daily independence at home, school and play.

£7,000 – can give a child fighting a life-threatening illness and their family a holiday of a lifetime to Disney World in Florid.

£2,000 – can provide therapies designed to five children living with Autism and their families hope for a better future.

£1,000 – can provide a specialist therapy tricycle, giving a child the sense of inclusion while providing vital physiotherapy.

I know the numbers above are big, but please remember that every single pound counts so no matter how small a donation, it all adds up to changing a child’s life, so please please just give whatever you can!
