Over 150,000 of us in the UK have MS. It’s unpredictable and different for everyone. But it doesn’t have to be this way. We’re the MS Society. We understand what life’s like with MS. We're here for you through the highs, lows and everything in between. Together, we are strong enough to stop MS.

Story

I’ve left this a little late, but decided someone should benefit from the pain I’m about to put myself through.

On 2nd September I will be starting an 8 day climb of Mount Kilimanjaro, the tallest free standing mountain in the world (5,895m) and highest point in Africa. I will travel through 5 climate zones, Bushland, Rainforest, Moorland, Alpine Desert, and Arctic.

This will be a massive challenge for me, aside from the 8 days of hiking, I’ve struggled with sciatica which is currently causing lower back and leg pain. Those of you that know me well know how fussy I am with food, I doubt I’ll get steak & chicken wings on the mountain. I also struggle with slight claustrophobia, which I’ve found prevents me sleeping in the sleeping bag required for the cold temperatures near the summit. Altitude sickness is the biggest reason people fail, with symptoms often starting at 2,500m

I can’t guarantee I’ll make it, but will give it my best shot, pushing myself harder than ever before.

Please help motivate me by giving a donation. MSSociety fund ground-breaking research and provide award winning support and information for those suffering with multiple sclerosis.
