Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Ocular Melanoma is a rare, very often fatal cancer of the eye affecting around 500 people a year nationally and therefore struggles to attract the funding that more common cancers receive.
Sharon was diagnosed with an ocular melanoma on Feb 13th 2017. Since then, the ocular oncology team at St Paul’s Eye Unit have been amazing. I'd like to help them through their Eye Tumour Research Fund which provides funding for equipment such as the new ophthalmic ultrasound machine that will help monitor Sharon's tumour for the next 10 years plus. The Fund also supports staff with their research into the diagnosis and treatment of eye tumours.
The Fred Whitton Challenge consists of a 112 mile sportive around the Lake District, starting at Grasmere and taking in climbs of Kirkstone, Honister, Newlands, Whinlatter, Hardknott and Wrynose passes. It is recognised as the hardest one-day ride in the UK.
R Charity is an umbrella charity that will ring-fence any money raised for the Eye Tumour Research Fund.
