Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Eight years after being diagnosed with cancer and being told it was inoperable, Julia passed away, at home in bed, with her hand in mine. Obviously, those eight years have been very difficult but we are incredibly grateful for them, having never believed we'd get so much.
In that time, Julia was still able to experience a quality of life that we never expected following her diagnosis; she saw her granddaughter born and grow up to a be lively young girl, revisited her childhood holidays on the Jurassic Coast, riding on steam trains, visiting tea rooms for cream teas and enjoying fish and chips and ice creams on seafronts. She took up painting and created art on an almost daily basis, made many friends online and on days when things were too much she was still able to enjoy spending time with our many cats and chickens.
While we would like to have a ceremony of some kind to say farewell, we have decided to just receive her ashes for now and hopefully be able to have the family together some time in the summer to scatter her in the garden, with the view of the fields below. So, in lieu of flowers for a funeral ceremony, please give whatever you are comfortable with to Velindre hospital .
