Blessing in Disguise is a North West based not for profit Children’s charity, set up to raise funds with the emphasis on creating a positive focus in enabling freedom to enjoy treasured memories to share with family and loved ones and providing a range of life enhancing experiences with a significant impact in improving the quality of life for families and their carers of disabled, disadvantaged and terminally ill children and young people. We are a socially responsible organisation giving support via our free service for the whole family, providing a range of essential equipment such as special needs wheelchairs, prams, walkers, sensory equipment, communication aid etc., planned activities, themed breaks and promoting and providing social and recreational opportunities for children and young adults with a life shortening illnesses, disabilities or who are at a disadvantage because of their situation. We welcome support from the community, local and national businesses - no matter how big or small your pledge for support is - every little goes a long way to achieving life goals for these children and their families and carers. We have a monthly newsletter, that we send out to all of our supporters and anyone who wants to make a difference to a child's life. Blessing in Disguise. “Creating positive changes to improve life’s misfortunes, everyone deserves a Blessing in Disguise”

Story

I'm running the Wigan 10k for Blessing In Disguise - they help disadvantaged and disabled children across the North West mainly by organising events that provide the children with some respite during a memorable day. It also provides the whole families with a great day out as caring for a disabled child can put strain on them also.

From a personal standpoint, my 8-year-old sister Erin is autistic and she is always asking about the funfair and when the next one is taking place. These events are what the people at Blessing In Disguise organise and spend a lot of their time on and I'm sure that the families of the children who have benefited from all of their hard work would agree with me when I say that they deserve all the support they get (and more).

Even if you're just chucking a quid in, I'd be extremely grateful and I'm sure Blessing In Disguise would be also.
