Story
On September 27th 2015 I will be running the Berlin Marathon (my first marathon!) in aid of The Stroke Association. I have chosen to run for this charity as they are a fantastic charity who do so much for something that can easily affect any one of us.
(Here comes the sob story) In 2012 I lost my Gran to a stroke after she was rushed to hospital with back pain that actually turned out to be a problem with her heart. She was always a sprightly person who was always busy doing something, whether it be spending hours tracing our family tree or dancing shamelessly in the street, so it came as a bit of a shock to hear that something so serious had happened. Anyway, she had a large stroke after her surgery and was essentially just running on wires, there was nothing left of the woman that I had grown up with. As soon as I heard the news I jumped on a train to Plymouth and ran straight to the hospital and said my goodbyes. The shock of the situation was enough to tear me apart for the months to come as well as the rest of the family. To have someone taken away from you so instantly is so horrible and something I hope I nor anyone else has to experience again. My Gran meant the world to me and she will never be forgotten, so in honour of her massive curly hair, awful singing and unbelievably huge heart, let's do what we can to find a way to stop it happening and help those that weren't so lucky and the people around them.
If you could donate anything at all then I would be eternally grateful, this is a brilliant cause and your donations will make the 26.2 miles a lot less gruelling...
Feel free to suggest any other ideas for fundraising, as well as running I am also willing to raise money by other means!
