Story

WE ARE NEARLY THERE !!

12 months ago we set out to raise £2000 for Pancreatic Cancer Research.

Look where we are now!       £9830.00

We have arrived in Boston. Justin is taking up the final run for our Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund collections by running in .....THE BOSTON MARATHON on 16th April .This will be his number 6 of the marathon majors, Chicago, New York, Berlin, London, Tokyo and BOSTON !!

(My turn next year)

There is nothing we would like more than to hit our final target of £10,000 by the end of April !

Thank you so very much for all your very generous donations throughout 2017. Words can not express how very grateful we are to each and everyone of you.

All our very best wishes

Judy and Justin

Please read on.

Pancreatic Cancer is the 5th most common cause of cancer death in the UK

It has over the years claimed many high profile lives such as:

Steve Jobs, Patrick Swayze, Alan Rickman, Luciano Pavarotti to name a few. However, for me  the most significant victim was my father in-law, Mr David Baird-Murray (Mr David as he was fondly known to us all at The Metropole).

Sadly in December of last year Justin, who is also running, attended the funeral of his friend and former General Manager of The Metropole, Nick Ireland. Nick also died after a brave fight against Pancreatic Cancer. He was only 53 years of age.

After completing the London Virgin Marathon, myself and Justin  took  part in 120km walk/run relay with the rest of the amazing staff of The Metropole Hotel Spa, to celebrate 120 years of family hotel ownership. All donations in aid of Pancreatic Cancer Research. Mr David will be there with us in spirit leading the charge around the lake !!

On the 8th October we completed the Chicago marathon. Next will be the Tokyo marathon in February 2018 with Boston being the last one in the Abotts World Marathon Majors. We are hoping to reach our target of £10,000 by the end of the year.

Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund is the only national charity dedicated solely to beating pancreatic cancer through research. Survival rates are low, so new research is vital. In the past, this cancer received little attention. With your help, we can change this so more people beat pancreatic cancer.
