Alzheimer's Society - Memory Walk Marathon South · 11 September 2011 ·

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Hi There

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Well I completed the Memory Walk (south)2011 in aid of the Alzheimer's Society on Sunday 11th September!  It certainly felt like an " Endurance trek" after 26 miles, but the  training paid off and I completed it in 8 hours, with no blisters!!

The walk was from Stonehenge to Avebury.

The reason I undertook this challenge was in memory of my mum Chris who had Alzheimer's.  She was diagnosed at the age of 59 years, and after a fairly rapid decline died aged 66.  Alzheimer's is a very cruel disease, but alot can be done to make life a little more bearable for both the sufferer and the carer.

A walk seemed the perfect way to honour her memory, as it was something she loved doing, together with my father she completed the Coast to Coast walk, and also walked a large part of the Dales Way and some of Offa's Dyke.

Thank you again for visiting my page, and any donation however small will be greatly appreciated. I would love to reach my target of £500.
