Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.

Story

I don’t usually ask for sponsorship for my sporting events. So feel free to look away now.  This year I am on my 4th Ironman and I think four is enough for anyone*. I am going back to my first one which I did in 2011.  It takes place on 2 July in Klagenfurt, Austria

The distances are 3.8k lake swim, 180k bike and a 42km marathon.  Back to back within a 17hr cut off. Yes that sounds like a lot, and it is. There are no easy Ironmans. The professionals are doing 8hr or so.  I am aiming to finish inside the cut off. The training is actually harder than the race, and will include a half Ironman in May (1.9k/90k/21k) plus very busy weekends

As I will probably retire* (may have some more half Ironmans left in me) I have decided to seek sponsorship for Parkinsons UK which is a cause close to my heart. Every single penny you donate (plus any tax relief) goes to help fight the disease. I am fully funding all my own costs for
travel and accommodation.

Many thanks and if any of you want to join me on a training ride or swim, get in touch.

All the best

Julian

*I have a 70 year old friend still racing, so who knows!
