Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a life-shortening genetic condition that slowly destroys the lungs and digestive system. The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is the only UK-wide charity fighting for a life unlimited, when everyone living with CF can look forward to a long, healthy life. www.cysticfibrosis.org.uk

Story

Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a genetic condition which causes sticky mucus to build up in the lungs and digestive system. It affects more than 10,800 people in the UK. One in 25 of us carries the faulty gene that causes it, usually without knowing.

I am part of a running club (Running4CF) that was founded in recognition of those living with Cystic Fibrosis, and in particular one young woman Amelia.  Seeing the struggle she, and others with CF, have to cope with every day drives us to take on challenges and push ourselves beyond what we think we can do.

I had an injury  and had to pull out of the marathon last year - but am determined now to complete it and make a difference.  I'm training hard with the support of friends at the club - please donate and help me make a difference to those with CF and help them live a life unlimited by this cruel illness.

One in 25 of us carries the faulty gene that causes it, usually without knowing. Cystic fibrosis comes with challenges, affecting our physical  health, mental well-being and how we choose to live our lives. But our community is uniting towards the ultimate goal of effective treatment for all.Cystic Fibrosis Trust is the charity uniting people to stop cystic fibrosis.
