I believe passionately that mental health is often seen as a hidden illness, that people still don't feel able to talk about and accept as easily as physical illness.  Sadly as a nurse I have witnessed the devastation that self-harm and suicide attempts can wreak on the individual and their family and friends.  Suicide is one of the leading causes of death in young people, as many young people may feel alone and isolated with their feelings and have no easily accessible confidential support service to help.  By providing the support services we can all work towards lowering the numbers of self harm and suicides in young people. 

Anyone who knows me well, will know I'm not the fittest or the most active person they could name.  This challenge is a great personal mind over matter challenge for me and a perfect opportunity to help 'Young Minds' support young people through their own personal challenges
