We are there when it matters to support people through dying or grief.

Story

In December I will be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, the world's tallest free standing mountain, in memory of my dad and to raise money for Sue Ryder. The trek will take 7 days and I should reach Uhuru Peak which is 5895m above sea level in time to see the first sunrise of 2017.

I am raising money for Sue Ryder and in particular Manorlands hospice because the care that they gave my dad and the support they offered to me and my mum was fantastic. My dad spent the last few weeks of his life in Manorlands Hospice last year and I really want to give something back to Sue Ryder for the hard work that they do everyday.

I will be paying for the cost of the trip myself so that any donations go straight to Sue Ryder.

Sue Ryder provides incredible hospice and neurological care for people facing a frightening, life-changing, diagnosis. They provide expert medical and palliative care and complementary therapy to support people with life-limiting conditions which can involve complex physical or psychological problems as well as offering support and practical advice to family, carers and close friends.

How your money can help -

£14 pays for one hour of incredible care

£35 would provide a complementary therapy session such as massage, aromatherapy and reiki. These help improve feelings of well-being and alleviate symptoms such as anxiety, breathlessness, pain and feeling sick.

£50 provides one session of bereavement counseling for someone struggling to cope with the loss of a loved one.

£100 pays for a hospice nurse for one day.

£500 pays for one day of hospice care for a patient - Manorlands needs to raise £8000 a day just to stay open.
