Our beautiful, loving, seemingly perfectly healthy Liana passed away suddenly on Saturday 20 February 2016, taken from us by Sudden Adult Death Syndrome. It strikes fit young people between 18-25 mostly and is the lesser known adult equivalent of Cot Death. It robs 12 young people of their lives in this country each week and throws a hand grenade into the epicentres of their remaining loved ones' worlds. 12 people wouldn't have sounded like bad odds to us out of an entire nation before 20 February. But then it chose Liana.

We are utterly lost without her and miss her so much it physically hurts. Anyone lucky enough to have had Liana in their lives knows that she just burst from the seams during her 19 years with love and infectious enthusiasm for life. Her first priority was making everyone around her happy, even at the expense of herself. She truly was the most unique and special person - whenever I used to tell her how amazing she was, she'd cringe and laugh that I had to say that 'cos I was biased as her Mum. We are so blessed that she was ours and we will love her forever.

As hard as it is to somehow have to go on living without our favourite person, Sophie and I want to do everything we can to make Liana proud of us until it's our time to rejoin her and try to continue her legacy of love by helping others on her behalf. We've therefore decided to begin fundraising for research into Sudden Adult Death and hopefully play a part in preventing other families from losing their own beloved Lianas.

I am running 10K with two friends, Chloe and Jody, in the East Midlands Run in Nottingham on 5 March 2017. Liana was at the Uni of Nottingham and adored the city as a second home so it seems poignant to be doing this event up there for her.
