Story

Hi All,

I'm cycling the Pru RideLondon-Surrey 100 for the second time, aiming to finish in under 5.5 hours (total time)! I did it in under 5 hours (moving time) back in 2015, which I'd guess would be a similar overall time with stops etc.. Now I'm an old man with a dodgy knee and only 1 month to train, so this will surely be more of a challenge...

**See picture below of me triumphantly crossing the finish line back in '15**

I'm aiming to raise £600 for the Bike Project, which will help cover the costs of providing a refurbished bike to 6 refugees. You can find more details about them on their website, as well as how to donate an old bike or purchased a refurbished one. They also offer corporate bike servicing, where they will come to offices to service and repair employee's bikes, the profits being reinvested back into the charity.

More about them below...

Imagine living on £36 a week. It's enough for food, perhaps, but what about travel? If you need a new pair of shoes, what sacrifices will you have to make? These hard choices are the daily reality of a refugee in London. Bikes to the Rescue! We take second-hand bikes, fix them up and donate them to refugees and asylum-seekers. Why? One of our bikes can save a refugee £21 a week in bus fares. Having fled persecution and atrocity in their homeland, a bike helps them access food banks, legal advice, healthcare, education and more.

We refurbish second-hand bikes and donate them to refugees and people seeking asylum in the UK. With some refugees surviving on as little as £8.86 per week, a bike serves as a vital tool to access essentials like food, healthcare and legal advice, build confidence and form part of a community.
