Kaltek Automation UK Ltd Snowdon Challenge – Job Done!

At 9-30am on Saturday 10th May 2014 Team Kaltek began their ascent on Snowdon. Full of hope, pride, spirit and bacon & sausage sandwiches onwards we marched along the Miners Track.

The first hour was reasonably easy despite a little rain and wind. However, whilst enjoying a well-earned drink and snack at the side of a lovely lake we turned to our left to see fellow walkers “Climbing” up the side of the mountain. Oh how we laughed at them and reassured ourselves that we wouldn’t be doing that! How wrong we were…..

Things got tough from this point onwards, driving rain and winds never before experienced didn’t help the steep climb ahead of us. Slowly but surely we climbed and climbed meeting the Pyg Trail, team work at its maximum helping each other up the face of the mountain.

Meeting people coming down who had turned back due to the deteriorating weather conditions still didn’t deter us. Eventually reaching some flat ground overjoyed to hear a gentleman shout “Don’t worry guys you’re at the top now”…… No we weren’t, we had another 20 minutes’ walk to the top in what was now a Red Warning Weather condition. But on we went, fighting against the wind and rain and then…..there it was, the very top of Snowdon. We did it! The whole team made it to the top in just over 3 hours! A perfect photo moment of us all holding our banner. The views were, well, non-existent! Unfortunately the cafe was closed, no train running due to the adverse weather conditions but at least it wasn’t crowded!

The thought of George was constantly in our minds throughout the whole day and this drove each of us to the top of that mountain. We have never felt prouder and we all experienced our own personal moment on top of that mountain (albeit clinging on the any rock we could find!).

To each and every one of you who have kindly donated to this great cause we really can’t thank you enough, your support and kind words have meant a lot to George and his family as well as all of us here at Kaltek. Please take a look at some our photos we have placed on this site.

Saturday 10 May will see staff from Kaltek Automation UK Ltd ascend mount Snowdon in wales in a bid to raise money for North West Cancer Research (NWCR). This is a fantastic charity of which 85p in every pound donated goes directly to Cancer research here in the North West.

Cancer affects us all at some point in our lives either directly or indirectly. Recently our company MD, George Brady, has been undergoing extensive treatment for oesophageal cancer. George is putting up a great fight and is remaining as positive as ever!

The news has saddened us all deeply and brought home the reality of how precious life is. He has inspired us all with his positive attitude.

Our Snowdon challenge will hopefully raise a lot of money to fund the research that is needed to beat this disease. I’m sure we don’t need to ask you to dig deep for this cause and we thank you in advance for your continued support and donations

Wish us all Luck!
