I signed up to the Newport marathon on a bit of a whim when it was announced to prove to myself I can still do it.

It's about 15 years since I actually ran a marathon in the days when I had youth on my side. This time round I'm older and heavier so I've found the training a lot harder.

I'm sure I can finish it though, even if I get overtaken by all the people dressed as pandas & rhinos and I'm hoping that raising money for charity will give me that extra motivation when I'm struggling round Newport.

I chose The Wallich because I know they do a lot of amazing work to help the homeless, through shelters and support services that can help people rebuild their lives.
