The Mental Health Foundation believe no-one living in the UK should be deprived of the opportunity for good mental health because of who they are, the community they come from or where they live. We’re developing better ways to support good mental health in every community.

Story

The Mental Health Foundation is the UK’s charity for everyone’s mental health. With prevention at the heart of what they do, the Mental Health Foundation aim to find and address the sources of mental health problems so that people and communities can thrive.

As many people know, I only took up running 5 years ago.  Running (whilst not my first love) has helped me look after my mental health.  Getting out in the fresh air, thinking of nothing else than how to breathe and meeting some lovely people means I have grown to 'like' it.

I started with the Foundation in 2022, setting up its first office in Northern Ireland.  The Foundation relies on public fundraising to do much of its work, including our first programme in NI.  Our work here is important, and our focus on prevention means trying to get to the root causes of poor mental health and bring about change.

I'm passionate about prevention. I've seen how mental health problems have impacted the lives of family, friends, and our communities here.
