Pancreatic Cancer Action is the only UK charity dedicated to saving lives through early diagnosis. Pancreatic cancer is the 5th biggest cancer killer and the 10th most common cancer in the UK. Your support means we can continue to raise awareness of the symptoms to ensure early diagnosis.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page, please read the *blurb* below and then please help in any way you can, every £ will be much appreciated.

I am at the wrong end of my 40s (I have a *special* birthday at the end of June ) and up until recently I dont even run for a bus!

However after losing my Dad to pancreatic cancer (less than 3 months after he started showing symptoms) in February 2016 I needed to do something substantial to honour his memory and to raise awareness of this evil disease,  and also fundraise for the charity who have been so supportive to us and whose aim is to drive for earlier diagnosis and treatment.

I also lost my Nan to pancreatic cancer 15 years ago and sadly the survival rate has barely improved at all since then, early diagnosis is vital as by the time symptoms appear the cancer is usually at an advanced stage meaning treatment options at that stage are extremely limited and in themselves have a small success rate

Also  I had always had 'run the London marathon' on my bucket list and with the impending *special* birthday, I decided it was now or never, so bit the bullet and applied  for a place running for the charity and here I am *gulp*!

I am under no illusion that its not going to be a walk in the park , but I  determined and committed to start and finish the 26.2 miles, even if they are clearing up the course & opening the roads behind me!!

So i guess those of you who know me are probably sitting there reading this with your mouths wide open in disbelief, which is why I am hoping that you will realise just how important this cause is to me and that I can count on your support in reaching my target.
