Giant's Causeway Mighty Hike 2024 - full marathon · 22 June 2024 ·

In June 2024, we're hiking a half or full marathon along the iconic Giant's Causeway, Northern Ireland's first UNESCO World Heritage Site, to raise vital funds for people affected by cancer.

Story

Off we go again 🚶🏼‍♀️🥾…..Team Shamrock Shenani-Gals are doing Mighty Hike number five in June 2024 along the Giants Causeway in Northern Ireland ☘️💚😊

We have all been touched in some way by cancer, personally, with a family member,  a colleague or a friend.  Some close friends tragically lost their eldest son just before Christmas a few years ago, he was only in his early 40s and had only been diagnosed with melanoma 6 months before he sadly passed away.  An inspirational lovely long time friend, who was also our neighbour during teenage years, lost her 3 year battle after being diagnosed with rectal cancer. She was only 47 and leaves her lovely husband and two children in their early twenties. Claire was a fighter all the way and such a lovely bubbly person who always had a smile or a witticism to have you in tucks of laughter. It’s so sad 😞. You never know what is around the corner or what lies ahead. We should be thankful for each day with our loved ones because tomorrow is never promised.

Macmillan can offer expert care and support at a very distressing time.  Please dig deep to support our next 26+ miles in a day along the Giants Causeway. This will be our 5th Mighty Hike.  Please make it worth our while for the self-inflicted pain for a few weeks after. Our team are always inspired to do another after the humbling stories we hear along the way. Thanks for supporting our fundraising. Individually we need to raise  a minimum of £250.00 each. We would obviously like to smash our minimum once again but we can’t do it without your support.  £250 could pay for a Macmillan Support Worker for two days who could provide emotional, practical and financial advice to someone affected by cancer. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs.
