Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

6 weeks ago, I was sitting in my kitchen having my hair coloured by my lovely hairdresser Louise. Me and my husband had just got back from a weekend break in Norfolk. Louise and I were laughing and joking about how many mirrors there are in hotel bathrooms and how many parts of your body you can see at the same time. This is when I mentioned that I had noticed 'puckering' on my right breast and told her I was going to make an appointment to go and get it looked at.

To cut a long story short, mammograms, ultrasounds, biopsies, ct scan, mri and bone scan later, it was confirmed that I had breast cancer. When the consultant had told me I looked at my husband, my rock, and he had tears in his eyes, I looked at the floor and bit my lip. I heard nothing more until I felt someone take my hand and wipe away my tears. I looked up to see a lady, who had been sitting in the room with us, looked at her name badge it said 'Angela', my first meeting with my Macmillan Nurse. She grabbed my hand, held my stare and said the words that rattle round in my head on a daily basis. "whatever it is, we'll deal with it". I looked into her eyes knowing she had given me exactly what I needed, HOPE.

Since then, the Macmillan nurses have been there every step of the way. Explaining things, providing tea, but most of all giving me hope.

6 weeks on and I have had my first dose of chemotherapy. I know I am going to loose all my hair, so I thought I would get my hairdresser Louise to shave it all off in aid of the Macmillan nurses. I phoned Louise to make an appointment, "are we having the same colour" she said, "no" I said,"I wondered if you would come and shave it all off". After a long pause I explained my situation and we have made an appointment for Saturday 24th September.

We need to make sure we have plenty of Angelas to go around, so please, please give what you can, it would mean so much to me.

Thankyou
