One Fun Run - Drayton Manor · 21 September 2019
So Shae has taken it upon himself to raise money for JDRF, to say I am proud is a huge understatement. He has truly faced adversity with a smile and gratitude.
It’s a little last minute as 6 of us will be running next week on the 21st September 2019.
As you probably are aware from previous posts, Shae got diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in July 2018 and it turned our world upside down. The blood monitoring, finger pricks, sensor changes, highs, lows, carb counting, hospital appointments, middle of the night wake ups... the list goes on. Life is like a constant scale in Shaes world and trying to balance his blood sugars are a daily struggle and could be life threatening at any given minute.
For a lot of people Type 1 Diabetes almost consumes their lives so every day going forward is an absolute gift, and it’s time to make the best of a bad situation and help raise money in support of maybe one day finding a cure.
Type 1 Diabetes is an auto immune condition and despite misconceptions, is not caused by diet or lifestyle choices. It is no-ones fault and nothing can be done to prevent it. Alarmingly cases of Type 1 Diabetes in children are on the increase, currently with no known cause or cure. JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) are working hard to change this by using donations to fund research into new ways to try to treat, prevent and possibly even cure this life threatening life long chronic health condition.
Thank you for taking the time to read 💛
Huge love! X
