Story
Hi friends, family and colleagues!
In a moment of complete and utter madness during the depths of this winter just gone... I have signed up to the Great North Run on 10th September 2023, having recently relocated to the beautiful north east!
It'll be my first ever half-marathon and I'm raising funds for Muscular Dystrophy UK - a charity which supports disorders such as Myasthenia (more information below).
There is a personal angle to this.. most of you will know that in 2016 I was diagnosed with a long-term neuromuscular condition called Myasthenia Gravis. I am feeling the healthiest since my diagnosis, so completing this goal and raising my fundraising target would mean the world to me!
I consider myself relatively fortunate in my experiences, and through tough times I've been so lucky to have a supportive medical team, family and friends. However, I've seen first-hand the toil a muscular disorder can have on those suffering and their loved ones, and MDUK has been, and will continue to be, an invaluable resource through providing a network of support, information and advice.
I hope that by raising funds for MDUK, their work will continue to support many others affected by muscular-wasting conditions.
I'd be very grateful for any donations possible.
Thank you so, so much!
Muscular Dystrophy UK is the charity for the 110,000 children and adults living with muscle-wasting conditions in the UK. There's currently no cure, and it many cases, it limits lives. MDUK do vital work in funding pioneering research into treatments and cures as well as providing vital information, advice, resources and support for individuals and families living with these conditions.
