Story
I’m raising funds for the British Heart Foundation, to power pioneering research into heart and cardiovascular diseases. The money we raise will help beat heartbreak forever.
Over the last few years too many of my friends and family have been impacted by cardiovascular diseases in life changing ways. From having to make significant life changes, to facing the heartache of grief, people I know and love have had their lives changed. I guarantee you will be the same, once you begin to notice it you will find we all know someone who’s life has been touched by cardiovascular disease.
My last job was working for the BHF and it opened my eyes to the scale of impact across our nations. I also had the chance to glimpse the ambition to drive research that changes that. Working for the BHF also made me think more honestly about my own health and the risk I was putting myself in by being overweight, so in 2021 I dealt with that and set on a journey to lose 7 1/2 stone, and going into 2022 I am determined to continue to prioritise my heart health through fitness- the marathon is part of that. I am raising funds because the research we do now will transform all of our heart health in the future, and I want to help take that forward.
