Transplant Sport is a registered charity whose main aim is to raise awareness of the need for organ donation. We organise sports and social events for transplant recipients to improve health and well being whilst actively promoting organ donation.

Story

Donations make a difference!

Laure and myself are work colleagues in the pharmaceutical industry. In our job we are working hard everyday to help to transform the life of millions of people suffering from disabling diseases across Europe, Africa and the Middle East region.
Sometimes we do work so hard that we forget about our own life and our health. We decided that this has to change this year and that we need to sign up for a (reasonable) challenge that helps us to separate us from our desk, strengthening our fitness as well. That's why we signed up for a triathlon on July 13th. Although it seems that we are better in planning and executing our plans in our job than realising our common training sessions ;-) we are somewhat on track and ready to swim 400m, bike 20k and run 5k.
Having lived in the UK for a couple of years now we have adapted (good) English traditions as well. Hence, we are putting all our efforts for this triathlon to the support of "transplant sport", a British charity organisation that not only educates on the benefits and necessity of organ donations but also promotes active recovery for those who have had the chance and luck of a second life offered by a transplant after an accident or disease. Transplant Sports encourage their members  to be fit and active whilst celebrating their return to health. People who have suffered chronic, life threatening illness are usually able to live a normal life afterwards.  With this return to health, it is important to keep fit and active. Next to many regional and local events Transplant sport also organises the British transplant games. (Detailed and more informartion via: http://www.donatelife.org.uk/ ).
Having a good friend who lives for the Transplant sport cycling team and a family member who enjoys his second live while playing with his grand children (both received a kidney transplant) we both thought that swimming, cycling and running for this organisation will be driving us to new heights. Please do support our efforts for the benefit of transplant sports!
