Story
On October 13th 2016, I lost my Uncle Darren to pancreatic cancer. He fought for a short time but was so strong and so brave right to the end. I'm SO thankful for the times I had with my Uncle and for being able to say Goodbye.
Pancreatic Cancer is so hard to treat as it is often diagnosed so late, so any research into finding a cure is so important.
Funding for research can be limiting so to raise much needed money to a charity very close to home, I'm going to cut my hair. To some having a hair cut may not be a big deal, but for those that know me, will know this is huge for me. I have been growing my hair since I was young and I love having my really long hair. I hate having my hair cut and even having a trim feels as though it's too short. Many have only ever known me with long hair, and I haven't changed it in years. I even took supplements to encourage hair growth so as silly as a hair cut sounds, doing this is a ginormous scary step for me.
So on my Uncle Darren's birthday, April 22nd 2017, I will be swapping my almost bum length hair for something a whole lot shorter. I hope this will encourage people to donate as I'm sure there are some people who aren't convinced I'll do it. Even if something as simple as a hair cut doesn't deem a sponsor, please donate to stop other people going through the months my Uncle suffered and the loss of losing him from our lives.
I'll also be running the London Royal Parks Half Marathon on behalf of Pancreatic Cancer in memory of my Uncle. I ran 10k in June 2016 for Cancer Research so this year I'm pushing myself even harder and further by running 13.1 miles!
