Story
As many of you know, I have been undergoing breast cancer treatment since last June. Now that the majority of my treatment is over, I would like to raise money to contribute to Breast Cancer research at Barts Hospital, where much of my care took place. Talking to the nurses during my many hours of chemotherapy, even compared to 10 years ago the quantities of drugs and their horrible side effects are now greatly reduced, and new groundbreaking advancements are being made all the time. Having cancer, at any age, is one of the toughest things for anyone to have to go through, but hopefully with the continuation of the incredible research that goes on at Barts and around the world, treatment will keep advancing and survival rates will continue to increase.
I have set myself the challenge of swimming 1000 lengths in the month of May, to hopefully raise £1000 for the Breast Cancer Fund at Barts Charity. This is a total of 25km which will be a massive challenge having spent a year being very physically inactive. I will keep you updated how I'm getting on and if anyone would like to come and swim with me sometime I will be mostly at London Aquatics Centre pretending to be an Olympian.
Please give generously, donations of any size will be much appreciated. Thank you xxxxxxx Katy
