I am running the Virgin London Marathon on 25 April 2010 to raise money for Multiple Sclerosis.

Multiple Sclerosis is a cause that is very meaningful to me as it has affected a close family member.  Through this and my nursing, when I looked after many patients with MS, I have seen the devastating effects it can have on people’s lives.

I started running when I was nursing as a way to keep fit and to take “time-out” from the things I was seeing and dealing with everyday.  I trained myself to run several half marathons and now I feel ready to tackle the full distance.  Many of you will remember that I had to pull out of the marathon last year due to injury, which has made me even more determined this year!  With the help of a trainer, I have been training specifically for this event since April last year.  I, myself, was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease in January, which has added another challenge to my training, but now I am on enough pills to keep a junky happy and I’m hoping to run the marathon in under 4 hours.
