Story
In light of recent events we wanted to show our support for this brilliant charity and the work they do. It is evident that racism is still prevalent in our society and even in our local community today.
Our main motive for running for this charity comes after seeing the devastating effects of an incident which was stimulated by racial harassment. Without going into too much detail... charities like 'Show Racism the Red Card' work towards educating young people in the ongoing battle to eradicate racism.
Following Will's sentencing, his family have kindly given us their approval to run a half marathon for SRTRC to show support and raise awareness. It didn't sit right with us to sit back and do nothing and we wanted to show genuine support. We imagine many others feel the same. "Not being racist" isn't enough, we need to be actively anti-racist.
If you would like to donate to this cause please feel free to do so - it would be greatly appreciated. Similarly, if you would like to train and run with us please feel free to contact.
Racism is not banter.
A bit more about the charity:
We work throughout the UK delivering anti-racism workshops to more than 50,000 people every year, while also providing specialist training to teachers.
Despite our efforts young people continue to be victims of racial abuse every day. 3 in 4 teachers have to deal with racism in their school each year without proper training or support.
Our educational work is crucial in challenging racist attitudes in society and breaking down barriers within communities.
Just £5 can provide comprehensive anti-racist education for one young person in the UK. This is based on 1 pupil in a class of 30 over 3 workshops in a SRtRC academic term.
