Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
After finding a lump on the 29th of April 2017 my life changed . After more scans than I can remember, a biopsy, and an operation in Barnsley resulting in a damaged vocal chord I was diagnosed with Thyroid cancer at age 31. At that point I decided to wait before continuing treatment. I chose this time to celebrate what I had and enjoy making memories with my children aged 5 and 1, my husband, family and close friends.
June 2018 I embarked on a second surgery with a high risk that I would wake being unable to breath without a tracheostomy tube in. Thankfully this operation went as well as it could in Sheffield and I returned home to recover before beginning treatment at Weston Park. September 2018 after a strict low iodine diet I had my radioactive iodine course which meant being in seclusion for what seemed like a lifetime.... Months of medication reviews, check ups and lasting side effects have started off this year for me.
Mentally I am exhausted.
Physically I am getting there.
I am totally overwhelmed with the continued support I have been shown and cannot thank you all enough. I have received countless cards, flowers, presents, even a holiday (thanks to the British Legion) and unmeasurable amounts of love, I feel truly blessed.
I'm not sure I could have got where I am today without you all.
Monday 15th April 2019 at age 33 I was told I was Cancer Free...
I now want to give something back and use this as a focus to get the "new" me back up there and enjoy this second chance.
