Story
I've spent 4 hours 32 minutes and 22 seconds on the streets of Berlin trying to find the X - Factor ............for nephew Jamie & others with Fragile X........
So please donate now, £2 (minimum on line) from everyone I know and even people I don't would be a fantastic target .......................................................................a little will be more.................................please forward my page on to see if we find the X Factor on behalf on the Fragile X Society.................
The Fragile Syndrome is the most common cause of inherited learning disability. The condition is transmitted on the X chomosome, one of the chains of genetic material which determines inherited characteristics. First seen under a microscope in 1969 a fragile X chromosome has an abnormal appearance at its tip. The tip looks like it is breaking off but is not quite seperated and this abnormality occurs at the site of the gene FMR-1, which consequently does not function as it should.
How does your money help?
By financially supporting the Fragile X Society, they aim to provide support & information to Fragile X families as well as raising the awareness in Fragile X in order to encourage research. Who knows where that may lead, but without support there is no hope.
In return for your money I ran the Berlin Marathon on 26th September, travel & accommodation paid by me, so your donation goes straight to the Fragile X Society. Why a Marathon; I've never done one but should of last year after being "otherwise engaged" at Twickenham instead of at the vacant table setting of a friends dinner party - the penalty, voila! Why Berlin, it gives me enough time to train in the summer warmth and I can't get into the London! And Yes it was the first time I have run a marathon - I should know better at my age but at least it was a personal best!!
