Ben Nevis Midnight Challenge · 6 July 2018 ·

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

I will be taking part in the Ben Nevis Midnight Challenge Trek on July 6th 2018 for the Alzheimer's society.

Alzheimer’s disease is the most common cause of dementia. The word dementia describes a set of symptoms that can include memory loss and difficulties with thinking, problem-solving or language. These symptoms occur when the brain is damaged by certain diseases. There are more than 520,000 people in the UK with Alzheimer’s disease.

Many of you who know me will be aware my gorgeous Nanny is currently suffering with Alzheimer's disease. Being a close family member and watching a grandparent drift away more and more every day and not know who you are because of this disease is so difficult.  It was my goal this year to raise awareness and do my bit of fundraising and as this charity is close to my heart I decided to take part in this challenge.

For everyone who knows me, you will understand this is a huge challenge for me personally. I love my home comforts and I'm a lazy bones so to be trekking 11 miles up the 'Mountain of Heaven' to a summit of roughly around 4,000ft scares me a little bit. It will be a huge personal achievement for me and to know that I will be doing is for such a fantastic charity means the world to me.

Any donations however big or small will be gratefully received.
