One Long Walk with Willow
Willow is taking Keri
for a wee walk
from Minehead, Somerset to Poole Harbour, Dorset
The South West Coastal Path
630 miles
Climing 35,031m (that's 3.8 ascents of Everest)
Raising money for the RNLI along the way
The South West Coast Path is considered to be one of the best long distance trails in the country and I am lucky enough to live right on its doorstep. That said, i have walked remarkably little of it, although at 630 miles long from Minehead in Somerset to Poole in Dorset, it isn’t that surprising. But not for much longer.
Having wanted to really explore our coastline and the landscapes, people, food that it encompasses, I am lucky enough to be able to do just that. So, with my trusted red setter, Willow, we will leave Minehead on April 20th and just keep walking, keeping the sea on our right until we reach Poole. Mainly camping, with a few b&b’s thrown in, we will be unsupported but im sure joined by family and friends at fairly frequent intervals.
In addition, we will be raising some funds for the RNLI and hopefully visiting most of the lifeboat stations and lifeguarded beaches en route. These guys and gals do a great job, in all weather conditions, come rain or shine, and without them, our coastlines and seas would be far less safe than they are.
