Story
So! I'm going to walk. I'm going to walk a long way. I'm going to walk 24 miles(38.6km), ascend 5200ft(1585m), over 3 peaks called Pen-y-ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough, all in 12 hours. I'm going to be walking all those godawful, possibly tearful miles, with a group of medical professionals, a police officer, and 1 titanically brave 13-year-old boy, all trying to raise money for Eating Stones Fund. I'm going to possibly swear at rocks, grass, birds, and more than likely clouds to help this kick-ass charity raise funds for all of the equally kick-ass things they are trying to achieve in Kenya.
From setting up an orphanage, educating communities, funding nurse training, and sending top medical professionals(not you Andy) to advise on good clinical practice, and offer decades(that's you Andy) of front line experience and knowledge to the local health care professionals in the communities.
I'm a cynical sod at heart but I love this charity for what it's trying to do. It's been run for 10 years by a friend, starting small and building to where they are now.
We will all deserve a drink from you when we stagger over that finish line, but instead please put a couple of quid or the price of a pint into this great cause. We will, of course, furnish ourselves with our own drinks upon completion of the challenge.
Don't be tight.
