Story
Kings Community Church in Letchworth are participating in a 31 day fast with the aim to raise funds for Mercy Ships in the month of August. During this time the congregation will abstain from food for varying periods to raise donations for our chosen charities.
Globally, there are five billion people who have no access to safe, affordable surgery when they need it. Mercy Ships is working hard to plug this gap. Since 1978, Mercy Ships has visited more than 70 countries, providing services worth more than £1 billion that have directly helped more than 2.5 million people. Mercy Ships has also trained more than 38,000 local health professionals in order to leave a legacy that lasts. www.mercyships.org.uk
- £3 could buy the gowns and gloves a surgical team needs for an operation
- £5 could provide a doctor with the tools to perform a cleft lip surgery
- £10 could help pay for the removal of a disfiguring tumour
- £50 could provide club foot surgery to help a child walk properly
Therefore, Kings Community Church in Letchworth want to assist Mercy Ships in reaching their goals of having funds to provide more essential surgical services and training around the world.
