Walk the Wight 2023 · 14 May 2023 ·

Mountbatten is the Isle of Wight's only hospice and is known for innovation across the UK and beyond. We provide expert medical, nursing and domiciliary end of life care and bereavement support to people in their own homes, including care homes, in our Newport building and in the local hospital.

Story

We have signed up for the full Walk the Wight (Bembridge in the East to Allum Bay in the West) - a total of 26.5Miles (42km ish) with lots of upsiedownsie bits. And here we are, a few days to go! Golly!

We have been doing lots of walking since the end of December, but our record longest training walk to date has been around 26km, just over half of what we are expected to walk on 14th May. (OMG!)

Kirsten is insisting that "Brook Down" on the Tennyson trail has to be renamed Brook UP: There is a lot of KP huff puff happening on that bit and her complexion could replace a port channel marker once she has reached "the summit"!

We may end up doing only half of it if any of our middle aged body parts start detaching themselves, but regardless of the full or half distance, we would really appreciate a donation and a cheery message to jolly us along. Wish us luck and determination, we need it! (oh, and a massage and some yoga and a hot bath and a lot of hugs!)
