Surrey Bacchus Marathon & Half · 10 September 2017

The Shelter Project Hounslow (TSPH) is a joint churches initiative in Hounslow running night shelters for homeless men during the coldest winter months.

Story

For anyone that knows me well, they will not be surprised to learn that this is a half marathon... with a difference!  :o)

The Bacchus starts and finishes at Denbies Wine Estate, England's largest vineyard.  With six wine tasting stations per lap, post race BBQ, fancy dress and stunning views - the focus of this event is fun, fun, fun!

The wine drinking training has been progressing very well over the summer but the long distance running training - perhaps quite not as well.  But rest assured - I will finish it, even if I crawl across the finish line (which is a distinct possibility).  I am also having my arm twisted with regards to humiliating myself further and doing it in a ridiculous fancy dress costume - details TBC.

Any support you can offer for this fantastic charity that I have been working with for a couple of years now would be greatly appreciated. They offer an amazing support facility to the homeless men in the Hounslow area throughout the coldest months of winter offering them shelter in a number of local churches and a hot evening meal and breakfast before they leave the next day - all funded and staffed by volunteers.

Thanks in advance for your help

Kirsty
